My Crayons Talk Lesson Plan

Can you imagine days without crayons? Always since these artistic tools were introduced in 1903, children accept used them creatively. Crayon Penny Spinner

This colorful craft is fun to brand and the children will have a spinning peak toy.  Your students can discover physics and movement. Discuss how this top spins.

  1. Cut a circle from heavy cardboard. Mine is about 5 inches in diameter. Also cut the same size circle from white cardstock or heavy-duty construction newspaper.
  2. Engage the kids in coloring. Let them create a color wheel or spiral pattern on the white paper. Glue this onto the cardboard circle.
  3. Brand a small slit and insert a penny. Make sure the penny is secure inside the slit, so brand the slit tiny.
  4. Spin the top on the floor and notice how the colors blend or the spirals broadcast.

Crayon Sandpaper Tee Shirt

  1. Provide each child with a half-canvass of fine sandpaper.
  2. Instruct them to depict a picture or pattern of their choice on the sandpaper. Brand sure they press hard with the crayons. The more than saturated the colors, the better the results.

Crayons can be used in a variety of math activities. Have the kids create patterns using colors (or color families) of crayons. Apply the AABAAB (red, red, blue, red, red, blueish) pattern or ABBCABBC or dream up some new ideas.

Crayons can be used as a tool for measurement. Lay crayons end-to-end. How many crayons make a human foot (12 inches) or a yard (36 inches)? Bank check your answers by lining the crayons along side of a yardstick. Call up near measuring other things in the classroom (or abode) with crayons.
